Hi I am Dr. Robert Freilich
His work has included significant projects in San Diego and Los Angeles, the El Toro and Alameda base realignments in California, Battery Park City in New York, the South Beach redevelopment project in Miami, and the Mall of America in Minneapolis-St. Paul. He has also litigated more than 160 land-use, local government, and property-rights cases nationwide, including matters presented before the United States Supreme Court.
About Story
Dr. Freilich served as National Editor of The Urban Lawyer for the American Bar Association and as Chair of the American Planning Association’s Planning and Law Division. He has authored more than 100 professional articles and co-authored several leading publications on land-use regulation, sustainable growth, green development, climate change, and responsible community planning. His notable works include Model Subdivision Regulations, The 21st Century Land Development Code, Cases and Materials on Land Use, and From Sprawl to Sustainable Growth.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his law degree from Yale Law School, followed by advanced studies in law, planning, and international affairs at Columbia University. He has served as a visiting professor at Harvard Law School, the London School of Economics, the University of Miami School of Law, and the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. He also served as the Rubey M. Hulen Professor of Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
